Dear RSU #4 Families,
First of all, I hope this letter finds you well and healthy. This weather we have been having has been amazing and much needed for all of us. Unless of course you are a person who loves winter!
I am reaching out today to update you all on some things that will be happening moving forward.
First, last Wednesday night the RSU #4 School Board voted unanimously to name the Oak Hill High School Football field the “Stacen Doucette Memorial Field.” I am elated to bring you this announcement because while it is posthumous it is an honor that is well deserved. I know many of you felt the same way I did about Coach Doucette and the way he cared for our students and the work he did to give back to our communities. Mr. Palmer and some others are working on planning a ceremony in August (hopefully we can have a large gathering at that point) so keep an eye out for that information to be forthcoming.
If your child is in K-5 you should be receiving information in the mail next week regarding the following information: 1. Teacher Assignment 2. School Calendar (which is subject to change depending on what next fall looks like) 3. Supply Letter
If your child is entering Pre-K you will receive all of this information the first week of August. We are still working on trying to determine how we will do Pre-K and K screening in the fall so please keep an eye out on our website and social media platforms for that information to come.
During the week of June 8th, we will be offering day and evening hours for device drop off, library book and textbook return, as well as picking up any remaining student items. The schedule for this will be posted on our website and social media platforms this week.
Lastly, I know that all of you are anxious to find out about the fall and what that is going to look like. I also know there is a lot of false information floating around the internet. At this time, we have not received official guidance from the Department of Education regarding what we will/will not be able to do come the end of August. Please know that I understand all too well the need for information as I also have four children at home. I want nothing more than for our kids to return to school so that they can begin the process of re-learning how to do school. I promise you all that as soon as we have information and have made plans, I will get it out to you so that you can also make plans for your family.
Thank you all for your support and the support you are providing your children during this difficult time. Please stay safe and healthy as we work together to find solutions to the challenges that we face today and into the future.
Sincerely,
Andrew R. Carlton RSU #4 Superintendent of Schools
